Save up to £24 a year by ditching audiobooks

If you’re a Spotify user, you’ll be pleased to hear that you can save £24 a year by switching to one of the new Basic plans. And you could unknowingly be paying extra for a service you don’t use.

The catch with signing up to the Basic plan is that it does not include the 15 hours of audiobooks access that you get with Premium.

However, you can still enjoy features like ad-free music listening, download to listen offline, high-quality audio and on-demand controls so you choose to hit repeat or listen to an album in full.

Since May, Individual Premium subscribers have been paying £11.99, while Family Plans went up to £19.99. However, the Family Basic Plan only costs £17.99, saving users £24 a year if they switch from the Family Plan alone, while Basic Individual subscribers will only pay £10.99, saving £12 a year.

The basic plans currently available are the Basic Individual, Basic Duo (existing Duo account holders) and Basic Family (existing Family account holders).

How to sign up

Head to Spotify for the web, select your profile, account, available plans, choose from the Basic plans and confirm.

You can also save on how much you pay for Spotify by downgrading your Spotify package. If you’re on the Family subscription for up to six people, but only two of you use the service, you can save £3 a month by switching to Duo.

And if your Duo account is only used by one person, you can switch to an Individual account to save up to £5 a month.

With the Duo and Family plans, listeners can each have their own individual profile and playlists. You can listen to whatever you want simultaneously.

Plus, the free version of Spotify is still available but it comes with adverts and less control over listening queues.
