Writers, Ink Podcast: Marc Cameron Explains What It’s Like to Write for the Tom Clancy Estate

BookTrib is proud to present to our readers the Writers, Ink podcast, a show about the business of writing.

J.K. Rowling was nearly homeless when she wrote the first Harry Potter book. Stephen King penned Carrie on a small desk wedged between a washer and dryer. James Patterson worked in advertising and famously wrote the Toys “R” Us theme song long before becoming an author.

Whether you’re traditionally published or indie, writing a good book is only the first step in becoming a successful author. The days of just turning a manuscript in to your editor and walking away are gone. If you want to succeed in today’s publishing world, you need to understand every aspect of the business — editing, formatting, marketing, contracts. It all starts with a good book, then the real work begins.

Join international bestselling author J.D. Barker and indie powerhouse Zach Bohannon, as they gain unique insight and valuable advice from the most prolific and accomplished authors in the business.

This Week’s Episode

Join hosts J.D. Barker, Christine Daigle, JP Rindfleisch, Kevin Tumlinson, and Patrick O’Donnell as they discuss the week’s publishing topics, including Kickstarter’s new AI policy. Then stick around as Patrick chats with thriller author (and current Jack Ryan scribe) Marc Cameron!

New York Times bestselling author Marc Cameron’s Jericho Quinn Thriller Series debuted in 2011. Since then, he’s written eight Quinn novels and four Arliss Cutter novels featuring a deputy US marshal based in Alaska, including the most recent Cutter entitled Breakneck. Marc is also the author of six Jack Ryan novels for the Tom Clancy estate, including the most recent, Red Winter, and the upcoming Command and Control (November 2023).
